The lecture explains how systematic reviews differ from traditional literature reviews and highlights the importance of developing a predefined review protocol, establishing clear eligibility criteria, conducting comprehensive literature searches, assessing study quality, extracting relevant data, and synthesizing evidence systematically.
Special attention is given to PROSPERO for protocol registration and PRISMA for transparent reporting of systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The lecture also demonstrates how systematic reviews can strengthen evidence-based research, reduce bias, identify research gaps, and improve the transparency and reproducibility of academic studies.
Topics Covered
- What Is a Systematic Review?
- Why Systematic Reviews Matter in Academic Research
- Systematic Reviews vs. Traditional Literature Reviews
- Developing a Systematic Review Protocol
